Client Directed Home Care Invoicing (CDHCI)
Home Care That Gives You Choice
If you or your loved one has been approved for the Client Directed Home Care Invoicing (CDHCI) program, you have the ability to choose a home-care provider that is registered with Alberta Blue Cross.
Happy at Home Healthcare Services is an approved CDHCI provider, and we’re here to make the process as simple and comfortable as possible for you and your family.
You don’t have to navigate everything alone. If you have questions about getting started with our services, we’re happy to talk with you about your care needs and help you understand the next steps.
How Does CDHCI Work?
Step 1: Determine Your Eligibility
The first step is to determine whether you are eligible for the CDHCI program.
Eligibility is determined through Alberta’s continuing-care assessment process. If you or your loved one is receiving home and community care support, speak with your healthcare or continuing-care team about whether CDHCI may be an option for you.
You do not need to determine your eligibility on your own. Your care team can guide you through the assessment process.
Step 2: Receive Your Care Plan and Funding Information
If you are eligible for CDHCI, you will receive information about the home-care services and funding available to you.
Your approved funding is based on your assessed care needs. The amount of funding and the services that can be covered will depend on your individual circumstances and approved care plan.
Take some time to review your funding information so you understand what has been approved for you.
Step 3: Choose Your Home-Care Provider
One of the benefits of CDHCI is that eligible clients can choose their home-care provider from providers registered with Alberta Blue Cross.
This means you can choose a provider that you and your family feel comfortable with.
If you are considering Happy at Home Healthcare Services, we would love the opportunity to speak with you.
We can discuss your loved one’s needs, the type of support you are looking for, and how our services may fit within your approved care plan.
Step 4: Contact Happy at Home
Once you have chosen Happy at Home Healthcare Services, give us a call.
We’ll take the time to learn about you or your loved one, including:
Your current care needs
The type of assistance you are looking for
Your preferred schedule
Your approved CDHCI funding
The services you would like to receive
Any concerns or questions your family may have
You don’t have to have everything figured out before you call. We’re here to listen and help you understand your options.
Step 5: Develop Your Care Plan
Together, we’ll discuss the services that may be appropriate for your loved one and create a care plan based on their individual needs.
Depending on the approved services and your loved one’s needs, care may include support such as:
Personal care
Companionship
Meal preparation
Light housekeeping
Transportation and errands
Respite care
Mobility assistance
Other appropriate home-care supports
Our goal is to provide care that respects your loved one’s routines, preferences, independence, and dignity.
Step 6: Begin Receiving Care
Once everything is arranged, your caregiver will begin providing the agreed-upon services according to your care plan and schedule.
We understand that welcoming a caregiver into your home is a big step. That’s why we focus on building trust, providing dependable support, and treating every client with the same compassion and respect we would want for our own family.
Step 7: We Handle the Billing
For eligible CDHCI clients, Happy at Home Healthcare Services can direct bill for approved services provided through the program.
This can help make the process easier for families because you don’t have to manage the billing process on your own for covered services.
Your care and funding arrangements remain based on your approved CDHCI funding and care plan.
